Explore the creative process of acrylic painting and connect with the animal realm!

HOSTED AT THE LEGENDARY HOLLYHOCK RETREAT CENTRE ON CORTES ISLAND, BC

Over seven days of studio time, students will bring a blank canvas through a journey of the painting process, while connecting to animal spirits as subject matter and intuitive inspiration.

Through multiple daily demonstrations and attentive one-on-one support, Autumn Skye will guide students as they work on their own paintings, covering the journey of materials, technique, application, concept, composition, “blocking & bridging”, colour theory, refining, glazing, and finishing.

All painting experience levels welcome,  all painting supplies and tools included!

Participants can expect to explore:

• Acrylic painting techniques

• Blocking, bridging, and glazing

• Animal textures (fur, scales, feathers, skin, eyes)

• How to paint energetic glow, geometries, and “magic”

Hosted at Skyelight Studio at Heartwood, north of Powell River in qathet regional district. During free time students are welcome to relax, walk the beautiful forest and gardens, soak in the wood-fired hot tub, or keep painting!

THE HEART OF ART 3-DAY ACRYLIC PAINTING INTENSIVE for TEENS AGES 13-18

Over three full days of studio time, students will bring a blank canvas through a journey of the painting process, while exploring inspiration, intuition, technique & process.

Through multiple daily demonstrations and attentive one-on-one support, Autumn Skye will guide individuals and the group as they work on their own paintings, covering the journey of materials, application, concept, composition, “blocking & bridging”, colour theory, refining, glazing, and finishing. 

Hosted at Skyelight Studio at Heartwood, north of Powell River in qathet regional district.

9:30am - 5:30pm daily (with one-hour lunch break 12-1:30pm *no meals provided)

All supplies and tools included.

THE SPIRIT OF ART MENTORSHIP RETREAT~ A FOUR DAY ACRYLIC PAINTING MENTORSHIP PROGRAM (FOR ALUMNI)

For those who want to take their paintings to the next level… A deeper dive into acrylic painting technique, empowered inspiration, composition, theory, & process with the attentive support of Autumn Skye!

Over four days of studio time, students are invited into a deeper exploration of the creative painting process. Working from a blank canvas of your choice, you will be guided and empowered to get more ambitious with your composition or subject matter, challenge yourself, and grow as an artist with the mentorship of Autumn Skye. Daily demonstrations will be tailored for the unique students and group to help liberate creative blocks and process challenges. Autumn Skye will work simultaneously on a new painting demonstrating the various stages of a painting’s creation, and also offer attentive one-on-one support and feedback throughout the painting process. 

Group or private critique sessions will also be facilitated for any students who wish to bring (up to three) existing complete or in-progress paintings for empowering, constructive, honest, and compassionate discourse.

Prices include paints only. All other supplies (brushes, canvas, and palette) will be available for purchase onsite for those who choose to not bring their own or do not have tools from a previous workshop.

*for Alumni only, must have completed one previous workshop with Autumn Skye (Heart of Art, Soul Portraits, Vienna Academy, Italy Seminar, Magic Realism, etc)
